Editorial Policy
Last updated: June 2026
USA Roof Repair publishes educational content about residential and commercial roofing — repair guides, material comparisons, cost information, FAQ pages, and how-to articles. This page describes how that content is created, maintained, and updated.
Our Content Mission
Our editorial goal is to help homeowners and property managers make informed decisions about roofing. That means writing content that is accurate, specific, and honest — including when the honest answer is "it depends" or "this contractor advice is self-serving."
We do not publish content for the primary purpose of search engine rankings or advertising revenue. We publish content because homeowners who understand their roofs make better decisions, ask better questions, and have better outcomes with contractors. That aligns with our business goal — a better-informed homeowner is a better customer.
Who Creates Our Content
Our content is written by people with direct experience in the roofing industry — contractors, estimators, project managers, and roofing industry writers who have spent time working in and around roofing businesses. We do not publish content from writers with no roofing background.
Content is reviewed for technical accuracy before publication. We check cost figures against current contractor data, verify that code references are accurate for the relevant jurisdictions, and confirm that material specifications match current manufacturer guidance.
When we use specific data points — average costs, material lifespans, failure statistics — we identify the source or explain the basis for the figure. We do not cite statistics we can't verify.
Content Update Policy
Roofing costs, building codes, and material specifications change. We review our content on a rolling 6-month schedule and update when:
- — Cost data is more than 12 months old
- — A building code or product specification has changed
- — A reader or contractor identifies a factual error
- — A product we reference has been discontinued or significantly revised
- — We become aware that advice we've given is no longer accurate
Every article and guide displays its original publication date and most recent update date. If you're reading an article, the date tells you when it was last reviewed.
Corrections Policy
We correct factual errors promptly. If you identify an error in any of our content — a wrong cost figure, an outdated code reference, a factually inaccurate statement — please contact us. We review all submissions and correct errors that are substantiated.
Corrections are noted on the relevant page when the change is substantive. We don't silently overwrite errors without acknowledgment on significant factual changes.
Commercial Relationships and Editorial Independence
USA Roof Repair generates revenue by connecting homeowners with contractors. This is our commercial model. We disclose this because it's relevant to understanding our perspective.
Our editorial content is not influenced by contractor relationships. We do not allow contractors to pay for favorable coverage in our guides, FAQ pages, or educational articles. We do not accept sponsored content disguised as editorial. We do not suppress negative information about contractor practices in exchange for commercial relationships.
Where we reference specific products, brands, or manufacturers, we do so based on editorial judgment — not because those companies have a commercial relationship with us. We have no affiliate relationships with roofing product manufacturers.
We display advertising through Google AdSense on some pages. AdSense content is determined by Google's algorithms, not by us. We do not allow advertisers to influence editorial content.
Local and Climate-Specific Content
Roofing recommendations are not universal — the right material, installation technique, and maintenance schedule depends significantly on local climate, building codes, and housing stock. Our city-specific pages and climate-specific guidance reflect this reality.
When we make local recommendations, they're based on the specific weather patterns and known roofing challenges in that market. We do not copy-paste generic advice into local pages — we research local conditions and tailor recommendations accordingly.
What Our Content Is Not
Our educational content is general information, not professional advice for your specific situation. We describe typical industry practices, typical cost ranges, and common scenarios. We cannot know the specific condition of your roof, the specific codes in your jurisdiction, or the specific terms of your insurance policy.
Before making significant roofing decisions, consult with a licensed contractor who has inspected your roof in person, and review your insurance policy with your agent. Our content helps you arrive at those conversations more informed — it doesn't replace them.
